What specific research interest are you pursuing with your junior research group?

Dr. Alexandr Uciteli, Group leader: "We are working on software-supported phenotyping, i.e. identifying people with certain characteristics. The successful determination and analysis of phenotypes plays a decisive role in the diagnostic process, in the assessment of risk factors, in therapy proposals and measures and in the recruitment of study participants."

What has been the most surprising result for you in the junior research group's work so far?

Franz Matthies: "We haven't finished working on our framework yet, but one very exciting finding for me is that both structured data (for phenotyping) and unstructured data (clinical/medical texts) can be queried using a conceptually similar approach. "

Which of your group's publications do you particularly recommend?

Christoph Beger: "For an easy-to-understand overview of the research field of phenotyping and the TOP framework we have developed, I recommend the publication 'Modelling Adverse Events with the TOP Phenotyping Framework'".
