What research interest are you pursuing with your junior research group?

Dr. Sasanka Potluri (Group leader): "Our group optimizes hospital logistics through AI, benefiting all stakeholders directly. We also evaluate AI algorithms to accurately predict demand and adapt to the dynamic requirements of health care."

What has been the most exciting insight for you so far as part of the junior research group work?

Saran K.: "One of our use cases is duty scheduling, a complex optimization problem with many participants. The implementation in a schedule generator requires a lot of effort, but the scalability to complex scenarios makes it worthwhile."

How would you describe your research work in medical informatics to someone who is not familiar with the field?

Dr. Yuan Zhu: "The importance of our research is illustrated by our use case for predicting blood demand. A model we developed provides measures to ensure timely access to appropriate blood products, support emergency preparedness, and optimize blood bank resource management."
