Dresden, 18/07/2024. The 10,000th Broad Consent of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) was signed at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden in June 2024.
Since the end of 2022, patients at Dresden University Hospital have been informed about the MII Broad Consent as part of the hospital admission process in the central patient admissions departments and in some university outpatient clinics. With their consent, patients can make their routine data, health insurance data and/or biosamples available for medical research purposes. Their consent is voluntary and has no impact on their treatment.
Based on this "broad consent", researchers have the option of applying for the data, biosamples and health insurance data generated during the treatment process for specific research projects in accordance with data protection regulations.
