BMBF Minister Johanna Wanka emphasises the importance of "providing even better advice and treatments to patients"

10 July 2017. Four consortia, comprising 17 university hospitals and around 40 partner organisations, have been selected for continued funding during the four-year development and networking phase of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII). The announcement was made by the German Federal Minister of Education and Research Johanna Wanka today in Berlin. BMBF will make approximately 120 million euros available to these consortia – that will begin establishing data integration centres (DICs) from January 2018. The other university hospitals that participated in the initiative’s conceptual phase will be given the opportunity to continue their involvement by joining the four fully funded consortia. To this end, BMBF will additionally provide up to 30 million euros.
